Aesthetics, art and creativity in the education at Doris Tenedy

Our infant students are taught aesthetics during the lessons of music, drawing, choreography and drama, and out-of-class activities. The junior and senior students focus on the lessons of music and art, as well as on out-of-class art and stage performance.

Music

By studying music lessons, the pupils cultivate their permanent musical interests and needs and develop their talents. In this direction are the fundamental aims of the music education:

  • Forming a clear motive for communicating with the art of music; developing abilities and habits for understanding and performance of music and songs;
  • Enriching the musical culture of the students; cultivating their musical and artistic tastes;
  • Developing the musical talents; encourage the spontaneous artistic reaction of the children; finding students talents and creating appropriate conditions for their development.
 
 
Individual lessons

The out-of-class forms of musical activity play an important role for the development of both musical culture and students' capabilities. Pupils showing to be talented are offered additional piano lessons. They do not aim at training of professional performers but at creating of personalities with broader musical culture.Students with vocal talents develop their skills in the vocal group of the school, which includes pupils from all ages.

 

Arts

Art helps us form our impressions of the world and forms our aesthetic attitude towards the surrounding reality.
It develops our emotional response, intellectual power and creative activity; it teaches us common values. Our art programme includes painting, sculpture, graphics, applied arts and design. It aims at creating art knowledge and eloquence. In the course of study, general knowledge of the materials and expressive means of different art genres is obtained; an emotional attitude towards works of art is formed. The educational process in art is differentiated by age and personalised according to the students' interests and capabilities.

The best works of the students find their place in the school newspaper and permanent school exhibition. The students apply frequently their acquired knowledge and capabilities in art in the computer course of study for digital processing and creating of images.

 
 

Choreography and classical ballet

Training in choreography and classical ballet evokes inspiration in the children's minds for modern dancing, Bulgarian folklore and classical dancing and musical heritage of the world. Having no professional direction, the training is oriented towards:

  • Development of movement skills, co-ordination and fineness in dance performance; towards the developing a sense for rhythm and music
  • Learning the basics of ballet terminology
  • Development of observation, self-consciousness and self-improvement in dance performance
  • Forming of artistic taste, graciousness and manners
  • Development of imagination and dance improvisation, Obtaining of dance and stage experience and flexibility; skilful performance of choreographic sketches.

Essential characteristic of the art-creativity component of the education in Doris Tenedi is the synthesis between Arts - music, dance and speech. By doing this the students realize the unanimity of the creativity process and the harmony between its different parts. This synthesis is achieved by the contemporary work of the music and choreography teachers and is mostly expressed in the preparation of plays and stage performances, which requires full harmony.
